ReFocus

Welcome to Refocus.

Refocus is a photography service specially designed for Researchers, Scientists, Explorers and Organisations involved in research and conservation activities.

What is Refocus?

Refocus is a photography service offered by wildlife photographer Meethil Momaya. Its aim is to provide photo-documentation of research activities, both, on the field and in the laboratory. Refocus ensures that you get quality photographs of your field activities and laboratory developments.

Who can use Refocus?

Researchers and scientists working on specific species or conservation issues can use Refocus to photo document their work. Researchers and scientists attached to an organisation may require their organisation's permission to use Refocus. Refocus is designed keeping the following in mind:

Researchers | Scientists | Explorers | Research Institutes
Organisations | NGOs | Sponsors | Private firms
Government Agencies | Individuals |

Why Refocus?

Refocus is an exchange of skills and knowledge. I barter my skills as a photographer in return for information and insights into the life of your subjects. The photographs i provide can be used by you, your supporting institute/NGO or your sponsor in preparing reports, presentations, articles, and other informative literature. The information you share with me may be used by me in a similar manner – to include in photo features, articles, stories, informative literature, etc.

The photographs are licensed to you for select use, you do not hold the copyright to them (unless you have commissioned me for the work). The copyright to the photographs are held with me (Meethil Momaya) at all times and I may use the photographs in a variety of ways.

If you do not wish to share information about your subject, then Refocus is not a free service and my standard commission charges apply.

How does Refocus work?

Getting started with Refocus is simple and can be summarised in these 7 steps:

1. Have a clear idea of what you want photo-documented and put it down on paper

2. Contact me and we discuss your requirements

3. We fix up a schedule that best suits your requirements

4. You should provide field support or help in getting field support that will be required during the process (permissions, guides, drivers, porters, accommodation, etc.)

5. Help the process by sharing facts and information about your subject (species or place)

6. We may reschedule if the desired outcome is not achieved

7. You receive the images 15 days after I return home

Where is Refocus available?

Refocus is available throughout the world – over land and in the air. I do not do underwater projects.

Schedules in India should span a minimum of 7 days. Projects outside India should span a minimum of 30 days.

How much does Refocus cost?

Refocus is free for researchers, scientists and explorers across the world.

All others are charged a basic fee. The fees may vary depending on the nature of the project, contact me with a few project details to know how much Refocus will cost you.

Commission me

If you do not want to share information about your subject Refocus is not for you. In which case you may commission me for the job. You can also employ my services for a variety of other biodiversity-related projects. Commissioned photography is not free and a standard commissioning fee applies. Contact me to know more.
